Theres been a bit of a kerfuffle in the parenting/lifestyle blogosphere this past weekend, related to a brands blogger outreach program. The brand in question is KFC, and (from what I understand, as I wasnt there) they invited a number of bloggers to an in-person event, with their children, to learn about KFCs new kids meals.

The social marketing space is an awesome collection of people. Ive had the good fortune to get to know many of them in the last few years. Generosity of time and spirit is a common thread. Unfortunately, its not always the case. I spent three years or so helping other people build their businesses, lending time, travel, ideas, promotions, new york asian escort model etc. When I needed help building my business, the true colors showed. Genuine friends emerged. The others were outed, even if they didnt know it.

They may not be talked about much, but forums are a driving force in true social media success. Social Media Explorer has experienced the prevalence of forums first hand. When we begin working with a client we create a Conversation Report, which uncovers research on where online conversations are happening around their brand, competitors and industry. More often than not, we find the majority of conversations are happening in forums. In ct, the publicly available Social Media Explorer Conversation Report, Social Media, What Consumers are Saying About Banking showed that 90% of conversations about banking and banking products happen on FORUMS and less than 1% happen on social networks. Its funny. Despite how much forums dominate the share of conversation for brands, rarely, will you find someone talking about their y forum strategy. Thats probably because forums are viewed as old-school and less relevant. Im not scared to admit it. We create some truly stellar forum strategies and they can be immensely powerful in driving relevant conversation with the right target market.

Ill disclose up front that I dont ever eat at KFC because Im sensitive to MSG and they put it in much of their food. This ct generally puts me in the category of people who think that KFC is unhealthy: if it makes me sick, it must be unhealthy.
